Policy and Advocacy

The Policy and Advocacy programme works to effectively contribute to the formulation of pro-poor local, national, regional, and international policies and legislation. The department works with policymakers at all levels including local communities, traditional leadership, local authorities, government ministries, and private sector players. The department works on capacitating local communities to fully participate in the policy formulation processes. Key focus areas include the promotion of Farmer's Rights, Agriculture Transformation, and Rights to Food and Water. Furthermore, the department advocates for the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and the equitable sharing of benefits arising out of their use.
